My Favourite things in August

Hello, Happy Sunday, I hope you are all well.

Today, I am doing a round up of my August favourites… I know we are a little way into September now, which is crazy, but I really wanted to share with you what I have been loving last month…
Instant full coverage concealer
Bobbi Brown – Instant Full Coverage Concealer.
If you have read my blog before, you will know that I love Bobbi Brown Cosmetics. I love that their brand message is about enhancing people’s features, instead of making you look like a completely different person.
I needed a new concealer, so picked up this one as it said ‘full coverage’ and that’s what I need to hide my under eye bags. This concealer is highly pigmented, so you don’t need a lot. I use the doe foot applicator to put three dots under my eye, then use my finger to gently pat it in. You can instantly see how much brighter the under eye area looks, making me look more awake!
It has a non-drying formula which helps balance the skin’s natural moisture levels, so even though it is full coverage, it doesn’t look cakey and dry half way through the day.
Even though it is mainly designed for the under eye area, I also use it on any redness/blemishes as I’m lazy and don’t want two different types of concealers. I find that it works perfectly well on these areas too and I will 100% pick this up again when I have ran out!

Cute Cottage in Devon

Visiting Devon Twice.
In August, I was lucky enough to go to Devon twice. The first time, we stayed in a cute B&B near Ilfracombe (I wrote a blog post about it here if you would like a read) and I was there for my birthday, which was lovely.
The second time, was a little last minute as we wanted to go away before James went back to work (he has the six weeks off). As I was off work for two days, we set off for Devon on Bank holiday Monday and this time we camped in Croyde on a campsite called Cherry Tree Farm.
Camping was interesting, especially because we forgot pillows and our camping pitch was on a slight hill, so we woke up at the bottom of our tent each morning! I think I’m not really a camping kind of person haha.
However, It was so lovely going away in this country, especially because the first time we went to Devon it was so hot, it felt like we were abroad! Sometimes, you forgot how lovely the UK is.

Smashbox eyeshadow palette

Smashbox Covershot: Ablaze Eye Palette.
This Eye shadow palette isn’t a new purchase. In fact, I have had it a little while now, but re-discovered it in August. I usually use a cream eye shadow from Tom Ford, but was getting a little bored and thought it was time to use something different.
This palette is beautiful. It has eight eye shadows, five of which are slightly shimmery and two shades that are Matte. I mainly use the shades ‘Delirious’ (3rd in from the left) and ‘Moccasin’ (the base shade on the top right). As the name suggests, they are all Warm shades, inspired by the desert.
The eye shadows themselves are so pigmented and creamy. They are so easy to blend and do not crease mid way through the day. I also love the design of this palette as its so small and streamlined, it was easy to take away with me on my holidays. If you are looking for some new eye shadows, I would recommend checking this palette out. They also do other palettes with different shades in, so there is something for everyone!
That is all for my August favourites, let me know what your favourite things were in August and what you are looking forward to in September!

  1. Ah I’m actually on the hunt for a new concealer since I’m running low on my current one! This Bobbi Brown one sounds perfect for covering my dark circles, the more coverage the better haha. I went away in the UK for a week as well and I couldn’t agree more that the UK really is a lovely country. Thanks for sharing ✨
