Last month, whilst we were staying in our Shepherds hut in Devon (you can read about the stay here), we decided on one of the sunnier days, to have a drive to Appledore.
Appledore is a quaint little fishing village located in North Devon. I only heard about this sweet little village due to googling (when we had internet connection) ‘cute places to visit near me’ and this place came up, and i’m glad it did! Although, the first time we tried to find this place, the Sat Nav took us to a street named ‘Appledore’ near to where we were staying haha!
Appledore is really small, but filled with brightly coloured little houses (my favourite – if you hadn’t already guessed!) and tiny, winding streets!
How sweet?! There are also lots of interesting shops and cafes to pop into as you are walking (& taking lots of pictures) through the colourful streets of Appledore. However, something to bare in mind is that some shops were closed. I suppose as we went in February, not all of them open again until the summer months.
One shop that we popped into (that I can’t find on the internet, else I would link it!) was a lady who owned a shop, that was also an art studio, and she was sooo friendly. She told us a few little bits and bobs about Appledore and said we should definitely come back in the Summer months as it looks even prettier!
We then made our way to the harbour and as you can see from the picture, it turned very grey and started raining, so we quickly made our way back to the car via more brightly coloured houses…
The house above was called ‘The Dolls House’ I think it was made for me to live there!!
About half an hour away from colourful Appledore is Clovelly. We didn’t visit Clovelly again this time, but it is another place I would highly recommend visiting if you are in the area. I have also written a blog post about Clovelly here, if you fancy a read 🙂
I hope you are all safe and well and hopefully we will all be out and about soon!
